The Short Answer
New York, Washington D.C., Massachusetts, Connecticut, Illinois, and New Jersey each have their own laws affecting how ammunition reaches a resident of that state. For orders shipping to any of these six, GTO Armory’s checkout automatically routes the order through a licensed local dealer rather than shipping directly to a home address. This is general public information, not legal advice — verify current requirements with your own state or local authorities, or an attorney. (California has its own, different rule — see our California ammunition shipping guide.)
Why Dealer Routing, Not a Direct Block
Unlike California, these six jurisdictions don’t prevent GTO Armory from selling ammunition to their residents outright — they generally require the transaction to go through a licensed dealer for pickup and any required verification, rather than direct-to-door delivery.
What This Looks Like at Checkout
If your shipping address is in one of these six places, checkout will prompt you to select a licensed local dealer to receive the order on your behalf — the same general concept as how firearm transfers already work nationwide. You’ll pick up your order there, completing any paperwork that dealer requires under their own state’s law.
This Can Change
State laws in this area are genuinely active and do get revised. If you have a specific legal question about ammunition purchases or shipping in your state, your state Attorney General’s office, local law enforcement, or an attorney are the right resources.
